How Do You Lead When Everything Has Changed? A Candid Conversation with Josh Levine

In his Candid Conversation with guest host, MaryEllen Stockton, Josh Levine, company culture expert and author, spoke about the conversations that are happening around the nation during a racial awakening and how to create allyship for colleagues and employees.

"We have to lead, even if we're not leaders. This is the moment that we all need to become a leader. Don't wait for permission," Josh said, quoting a faith leader he had a conversation with. "I heard a piece this morning about systemic change. And, you know, we don't have to wait for a conviction. It's what are we going to do today? I love the sense of responsibility that provides us. The next step, what does that mean? How is real change going to happen? I think you know you're making the right decision or taking the right step if you're uncomfortable."

Additionally, Josh and MaryEllen spoke about how:

  • Personal and professional values are intersecting now more than ever and an organization must recognize that connection

  • The landscape of working remotely—both through a pandemic and a social uprising—has changed everything about the workplace

  • Good leadership means making more time to check in on employees' wellbeing
