Outspoken Team Shares What Outspoken Means to Them: Part I

Our team here at Outspoken has been with us through many highs and lows as we grow this business. Without their shared support in our mission and their flexibility in an industry that’s constantly evolving (and involves some non-traditional hours on occasion), we wouldn’t have made it to our five-year milestone. We asked each team member what being Outspoken means to them—either literally or figuratively (or both)! And we wanted to share what each team member means to Outspoken. Check out our first two here, Dave and Sandy:

Dave, “Dean of Dialogue”/Executive VP & Agent

What does being Outspoken mean to you?

To me, Outspoken means being fearless and not worried about criticism and noise. It means speaking your truth and being willing and able to back it up.  It means believing in your idea, your work, your worth. Speak. Express yourself. Be proud of your research, your experiences, your ideas. Don’t be hindered by or afraid of ruffling feathers. Be you.

(And I am Outspoken because my girls demand it of me.)

What does Dave mean to Outspoken?

Dave is part of the DNA of Outspoken. There would be no Outspoken without Dave. He’s been our biggest cheerleader and our steadfast support system throughout the many ups and downs of becoming and growing this agency. He is the first to ask tough questions about new roster signings and always ensures a speaker feels comfortable asking tough questions about us in return. Some of our longest-standing clients/hosts are from Dave’s relationships—a true testament to his many years in the industry and a big reason for our growth.

What does being Outspoken mean to you?

I'm glad you asked! To me, it means taking part in something bigger than myself by spreading awareness of the issues that impact our world. Furthermore, being Outspoken means I am part of a solid team of strong women driving this force of awareness— who I am also proud to call my friends. It's truly humbling to continue working in this industry with an agency that holds honesty and integrity as the pillars of their business. 

What does Sandy mean to Outspoken?

If there was a superlative for kindest on the team, Sandy would surely win. She’s so patient and caring with our clients, always ensuring our speakers stay on track with their event to-do list and keeping our hosts happy. Her organizational skills are right up there with the best of them. We’d surely be lost without her making our event operations run so smoothly and always finding extra time to lend a helping hand.
